P.E.
By Ashton
Lately in PE p4 has been doing some more fitness testing. In November we finished our last fitness test, the v sit and reach. One of the fitness tests is called the pacer where you run as fast as you can while still keeping a good pace and not getting warn out. Another one is called curl ups where you lie down and you try to lift your body up without your hands. One we did recently is called the push-up test where you do as much proper form push-ups as you can. We did the v-sit- and- reach test too where you push a metal piece as far as you can while keeping your legs straight. I’m glad everyone tried their personal best and did well. Nice job everyone!

Write PE on your planner to get bonus points!  See you all tomorrow!

Guest Blogger: Matthew

This week has been so crazy with spirit days, preparation for our 4th grade Potlatch, and getting ready for winter break.  Let's just say that energies have been at an all time high so I'm proud of our class for really working hard to make our last week together in 2013 a great week.

We finally have another guest blogger this week - it's been a while!  Matthew wrote this week's blog post and here it is!

My two guinea pigs
By, Matt di Furia
Blog Post: December 18, 2013
I have two guinea pigs, Fluffy and Cocoa.  I got Fluffy on January 10th, when she was four weeks old.  She was very tiny, only five inches long.   I bought her a nice cage with fluffy pillows and a fuzzy blanket.  Three weeks later we got Cocoa.  Fluffy and Cocoa were good friends right away.  Now we call them sisters.
They like to eat lettuce, carrots, peppers, apples, and cucumbers.  Plus they eat hay and pellets.  There’s only one problem with guinea pigs…..they eat a lot, and they poop so many LITTLE pellets, they make quite the mess.  Sooo, that’s the bad side.  The good side is they squeak a lot.  When you rattle any bag they think it’s food, and they squeak so loud and run around crazy for like ten minutes.  You would think they had just won a lottery jackpot!

I think everyone should own a guinea pig.

Guest Blogger: Katie

Our guest blogger today is Katie and she has a story that is ready to dazzle us all!

My blog story                                                                                                                                    By: Katie
I am going to tell you a story from the book: Wayside School is falling down by Louis Sachar. Ok so we start at wayside school. A school that was accidently built sideways. The builder said he was very sorry. The story that I am going to tell you is called Maurica. Maurica was a pretty girl who could beat up any boy in the class. Everyone liked Maurica. But Maurica didn’t like anybody. She only liked Ice Cream. But one day a terrible tragedy happened. Maurica got tired of Ice Cream. Her teacher was sad to see Maurica sad. What’s wrong Maurica? Asked Mrs. Jewels. There just aren’t any good flavors of Ice Cream anymore. I got tired of Vanilla, Chocolate, Maraschino cherry, Caramel and everything else. For the rest of the day Maurica was sad. So Mrs. Jewels went home and worked hard all night on a new flavor of Ice Cream. The next day she brought in Maurica flavored Ice Cream. When Maurica took a lick, she said, this Ice Cream has no flavor!! Mrs. Jewels was heartbroken. Hey let me try it! * SLURP * you’re crazy Maurica! This is the best Ice Cream I’ve ever tasted!!! Said Todd. My turn said Jason. MMMMMMMMMM…… That is SO good! Everyone loved Maurica flavored Ice Cream except for Maurica. She thought it had no taste. Mrs. Jewels slapped herself in the face. Of course you don’t think it has any taste!! It’s the same thing you taste when you do not taste anything at all! So the next night, Mrs. Jewels brought in Todd flavored Ice Cream. The whole class loved it. Except Todd. He thought it had no taste. Now everyone liked Maurica. But Maurica only liked Todd. The following week, Mrs. Jewels had brought in a flavor for everyone so Maurica liked everyone and everyone liked Maurica. The only bad flavor was Kathy flavored Ice Cream. It tasted like old Balonie.

Today we have a very special guest blogger today from Ashton!  He's been working hard on this spooky story and it's finally ready to share!

P4’s Haunted Field Trip
By: Ashton Frye and Maco Inc.

This book is dedicated to some of my favorite teachers Mrs.Lippert, Mrs. Nichols, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Pflugrath, and also my great classroom, P4.

Chapter 1 Getting Ready

One gloomy day in November portable four (p4) was getting prepared for a field trip to the Issaquah salmon hatchery. Everyone was getting their coat and lunch right before they walked out of the school to catch the bus. Mrs. Lippert and Mrs. Nichols were assigning chaperones to their students and getting everyone ready. Then everyone got in line and walked to the bus stop and got on the bus just like any regular field trip.

Chapter 2 On The Bus

When everyone was on the bus, the bus driver started to drive. While p4 was on the bus everyone started to talk and play rock, paper, scissors. After about 15 long minutes the bus driver turned around and everyone saw a sight no one ever  forgot. The bus driver was dead! He ran after the students but they jumped out the door before he could grab them. Then the kids and the teachers had to walk for the last 15 minutes until they got to the Issaquah salmon hatchery at 12:34 PM
 Chapter 3 At The Hatchery
When we got there  we looked around and saw nothing anywhere. Then Mrs. Lippert said, “Let’s all look around at the salmon.” We walked over to the salmon and to our surprise, the salmons were all skeletons! Everyone jumped super high in the air and ran away, we knew something was wrong. We ran to the pay telephone. Luckily Anthony and Han both had a dime in their pocket, just enough for 1 call on the phone. We immediately called the police to come inspect the scene. A couple of minutes later the police got here but they were not any ordinary police, they were goblins! Once we saw them we immediately ran away and hid.

 Chapter 4 The Chase

All the students and teachers were bunched up behind a statue of a fish in a river.  Then suddenly the goblins started running around looking for the students. The students started getting super scared. Suddenly, the goblins ripped their skin and then we saw the goblins weren’t really goblins, they were just Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Pflugrath in very realistic costumes. Everyone started laughing as loud as 1,000,000,000 lions roaring all at the same time. It was a pretty funny sight.

Chapter 5 Getting Back To School

When everyone was calmed down we went back to the class, this time we had to walk the whole time because there was no way we were going on the bus with the dead bus driver especially after he tried to chase the kids and hurt the teachers. When we got back to school everyone was still thinking about that funny moment when the police were really teachers. After everyone in p4 got back to their seats then we went to math class and had a very fun day.

Classroom points and the mystery bonus!!!
In our classroom (P4) each table group can earn points for being on task, working hard, doing a good job on your work, etc.  Every once in a while however many points the table with the least amount of points has earned is how much points the class will have. With those points the class can get prizes like popcorn, extra recess, being able to watch a movie, etc.
Every Monday morning every table has a choice to participate in something called a mystery bonus. After every table has told Mrs. Lippert if they want to participate in the mystery bonus Mrs. Lippert opens up an envelope and pulls out a card. It either says you will earn some points, or lose some points. Every table who participates in the mystery bonus has to either lose the points the card says or win the points the card says.
                                                                                                                 Sincerely,
                                                                                                                 Ashton

**Thanks Ashton for helping others understand more about our classroom!  I love that you're helping others learn more about what we do in P4.  So far the mystery bonus has been pretty poor!  Twice students have lost over 50 points!  Luckily the students are doing a great job making up those points!

Write Ashton on your planner for tonight to earn extra points for your table!

Guest Blogger: Harrison!

Each week our class has a job called the class blogger.  As 4th graders it's important that students are getting better and better at typing and so students are asked to submit a blog post during the week either as a news piece for the classroom, a creative writing piece, etc.  Anything they want to write and feel like others would like to read about!  It's always fun to see what people come up with and I love to see their creativity shine in this way!

This week Harrison is our class blogger and he already has a post for us:

This week it was the 2nd week of music also the class finished Frindle and were also starting a new book called Clementine. There is a new station we have called word work. Its Monday so we all have new must do’s :)
