Thank You and Good Bye!

We are officially 5th graders!!

Good bye to our days as 4th graders and HELLO 5th grade.  I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing summer and I will see you all in September!  I hope you stop by and say hi once and while, if you aren't too cool for me yet.  :)

And a huge THANK YOU to all of you for the extremely generous gifts this year.  Words really cannot express how generous you all are and how welcome you've made me feel this  year as your child's teacher.

Wishing you all the best and I will see you in the fall!

No Balloon

Today was a rough one - no other way of saying that.  Summer fever has definitely set in and the idea that we only have two days left, definitely got the better of our class today, which was disappointing.  Since behavior was so poor, we didn't get a chance to pop our reward balloon for tomorrow.  Bummer!!  Hopefully tomorrow we can be on our best behavior so that we can enjoy our last Thursday together with a fun 4th grade movie afternoon!  :)

Fortunately for most of the class, they did earn their movie reward for tomorrow.  It is also PJ day, so come dressed in comfy clothes!  :)

Enjoy the gorgeous weather!!

Last 3 Days!!

Well we made it through the last two (very fast) days and we are that much closer to becoming 5th graders!  I can't believe it!  :)

Today our class started importing our classroom books onto a fantastic site called BookSource where we can have a digital record of our classroom library books, students can "check them out" during the school year (so I can actually track down books that are missing!), and as a teacher I can monitor how often books are being checked out, etc.  I am VERY excited to start using it this coming year and see if it helps manage our class books a little better.

Today we also played multiplication BINGO which was a BIG hit with the kids.  I was shocked at how quiet they all were - there was definitely some competitive concentration going on!  :)

Tomorrow we have our Walk-a-Jog-a-Move-a-Thon Assembly which is always a lot of fun!

Enjoy your evening - we are SOOOOO close to earning our movie for Thursday WITH P5 so I'm hoping students can show me they can make it happen!  Write 3 on today's planner for extra bonus points!  :)

Book Swap

The book swap was a HUGE success this year and we had SO many books that EVERYONE got to take home at least 2 books which is fantastic.  Great job P4 for bringing in SO many!  I can't believe how generous you were to trade out those books!

Only 7 Days Left!

Well we had a double balloon popping today!  Day number 8 brought us a SMARTboard game that let students show off their best super hero poses and got some energy out of their systems!  I was happy for that - and I'm sure they were as well.  :)  Ask your student what we did for our reward.  Tomorrow students each get a piece of chewing gum, which is not normally allowed at school, for their reward and they are pretty excited.  I will be providing the gum, so please do not send your student with gum or it will get taken away.

Tomorrow is also our annual book swap so if there are any more books you'd like to send in that you're ready to trade in, please do that tomorrow.  The book swap is always a great way to get at least 1 new book to kick off summer reading!

And speaking of summer reading - there is a LOT of fun activities going on this summer at our local library that are definitely worth checking out.

Balloons Keep Popping! - 9 Days Left!

Well we are already in June with only 9 days left of school!  I don't know about everyone else but today really flew by me!

Today students earned their balloon reward of getting sidewalk chalk drawing time and the results were pretty cool!  Most of the students worked really hard in the speed round of time we had.  Tomorrow, students earned extra recess time from the #9 balloon so that was very exciting for the students, especially with such gorgeous weather right now!

Just a quick reminder that the book swap is happening this Thursday so please send any unwanted and gently used books so that we can have plenty to choose from - right now only 4 people have brought in books but they have brought in a TON so I am at least happy to see that. :)  I can tell we are ready for new books for the summer - YAY!

Write #9 on your student planner for bonus points for your group - we are trying to earn popcorn and a movie next week and the points are going a little slow!  :)  Enjoy the gorgeous weather!
